Linda Blair

Linda Linda LindaLinda Blair, who was only five in the year she was cast, had to become accustomed to being at the center of attention. First as a child-model, then as an actor, she was selected for the part as Regan the possessed girl, from amongst 600 applicants in The Exorcist, (1973). Linda Blair quickly rose to notoriety and was awarded the Golden Globe. She was expected to also win an Academy Award. But when the story leaked that some scenes were dubs and a stunt-dummy was filmed for just eight seconds, the whole idea went down the drain. In the following years, she had no trouble securing the lead role in a range of movies, including the wildly successful television series Born Innocent (1974) (the top TV film of the year) and Sarah T. - Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic (1975) in addition to an Exorcist sequel Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977). They arrested her and gave her three years' probation when she the pressure of her friends forced her to buy cocaine after she reached aged 18. Linda was blacklisted by Hollywood following the widely-publicized drug bust. She soon found her career limited to B movies as well as guest television appearances.
