Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would be considered, at least in the eyes of America, into the class of child prodigies. A child of Irish roots, surrounded as her by talented parents, and her family, this came naturally. Maureen arrived in this nurturing sanctuary on August 17th, 1920. She was raised by her parents and family members. Marguerita L. FitzSimons had a successful contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based firm and also owned a stake of "The Shamrock Rovers" a renowned Irish soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons was the daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons complete this wonderful family. Maureen excelled at sports and was a lover of rough play. Her passion was coupled with the natural ability to perform. That was apparent when she was awarded every Feis for drama and theater the Irish had to offer. At age fourteen, she was admitted to the Abbey Theater, where her goal was to study the art of opera and classical theatre.
